Samantha Hatchett

Samantha Hatchett, a native of Texas who has also lived in both the Northwest and the Deep South, uses her experience in these vastly different cultures to influence her artwork and skills. Her focus on fine craftsmanship, nature, and tradition allows her to cross genres and mediums. Samantha’s work is often inspired by nature or looks to our past to find new ways to keep old traditions alive. She continually looks for a challenge or the ability to learn a new skill within her working processes. Hatchett is a multimedia artist who creates both jewelry and medium to large-scale sculpture. She uses traditional women’s fibers arts and metals techniques to develop interactive works exploring the multiple functionality of a piece. Many of her jewelry pieces are intended to be worn in multiple ways or used as objects to display around the home. Her larger pieces are also meant to be functional, such as lamps, while simultaneously enhancing the aesthetic of a space. Samantha obtained her Associate in Fine Arts from Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute and a Bachelor's in Fine Arts with a concentration in Metalsmithing from Appalachian State University. Her work often invites viewers to a tactile experience or creates an ambiance in a space that helps them relax and unwind from daily life.
